Modesty (in Blue)

This artwork is an interpretation of a small section of the Antonio Corradini sculpture, Modesty, Chastity, or Veiled Truth. As an artist with a deep appreciation for marble sculpture, I was drawn to the intricate and delicate features carved into the stone, such as the details of fabric, hair, and intricate patterns.

In particular, I was fascinated by the seemingly weightless cloth draped over the human flesh and sought to reconstruct this effect in my own work. Using a technique that I had developed in previous pieces, I meticulously crafted the cloth to appear as though it were delicately resting on the figure’s skin, capturing the essence of Corradini’s original sculpture.

The result is a breathtaking work of art that captures the essence of the original sculpture while also showcasing my own unique style and technique. It is a testament to the beauty and power of marble sculpture and the endless possibilities that exist within the medium.
