The Stare is a hanging sculpture that captures the iconic profile of Michelangelo’s David in a unique and striking way. The sculpture is created by converting the face of David into a series of peaks and valleys, which are mounted on an epoxy-covered board. The board has a black sand-pebbled surface, adding texture and depth to the piece.
The profile of David’s face is instantly recognizable, but the transformation into peaks and valleys creates a sense of dynamism and movement that draws the viewer in. The interplay of light and shadow across the surface of the sculpture accentuates the contours of David’s face, highlighting the intricate details of his features.
